Men do too……

It’s been believed or assumed that women are addicted to soap operas.Well just so you know we have ladies out here who never have time for that stuff.

Anyway that is not my discussion today,it’s the men..they complain a lot that their women are being brainwashed by these “proggies”..who would have thought they watch them too.

Ok you might appear a sissy if you admit before your colleagues, but hey such is life…accept who you are…have fun watching them.

Yes ladies we have men out here who wish you treat like the Alejandro they are,the Carlos Eduardo, etc.Be his Ana Paula and his Lucia once in a while.Guys accept it we wont judge you..its ok to be yourself, everybody else is taken.

Have fun watching Daniel and the lady…oops i just forgot the name of the soap!

It’s World’s Nature

Yes it is..wining,complaining,blame games, etc. It’s human nature and its across the board…like worldwide.

Competitions come and go.Yeah,im talking about Reality TV shows that involve search for talent in music, dance.et al.Talk of Sakata,BBA,The Voice,Nigerian Idol,American Idols, the just concluded Tusker Project Fame in East Africa and others.

You are wondering what im driving at…OK wait no more.Issue is,as the public or audience,at some point during these shows we are required to vote. Some of us are certified verbal voters. We never do the real thing.

Well hell breaks loose when our favorite contestant loses. That’s when you hear cries..oh corruption,oh unfair,oh mean judges…cut the crap for heaven’s sake!!!

You didn’t vote, right?OK do people the honor of putting your little lips together if you got nothing substantial to say.

We all witnessed Americans ranting on YouTube after Danielle Bradberry was crowned #TheVoice in the Us….it’s been tradition with #TPF…well im telling you, time to get over yourself.
Stop the beakering on social media, you are the reason your favorite contestant was evicted or didn’t win.Ukasuku wacha.

Happy Jamhuri people!!!!!!!

Just like that i am into heath reporting

Image

me,myself and i.
At one time if you asked me to do a health report i would look at you and wonder if you could see some injections in my eyes.Well that's just to say i dreaded anything to do with health, hospitals, infections and the likes.
But a month ago,all the fear somehow went away after i started hosting some health show.It was one at the beginning..how they turned out to be 2 is still a mystery.I felt sorry for myself since researching on health issues is the last thing i ever thought of doing.Anyway i had no way out..i had to,since i had guest speakers..from nursing officers,to clinical officers to counselors, etc.
The journalist in me and lessons learnt along the way wouldn't let me go in with an "empty head".A brain devoid of any health issue knowledge. That is where it all started...i had fun reading on health not to mention sharing discussions with health professionals.

Yes as we speak ask me about cervical cancer,i will give you information, ask me about substance abuse..i know what to tell you,ask me anything about HIV/AIDS...it's all in my little head with a big brain.Ask about TB,genital warts, abortion risks..i got it all.
That is not where it all ends...i am out to do a lot to ensure all the info gets to the public at large.I am just starting..be sure to see a lot on health in future courtesy of one Mwanje Shaylor.
In the meantime i got a lot to take care of in school...but watch this space. When you dream it,you achieve it...right?
Thanks to one Gilbert Langat of Moi University Radio i realized there is a part of me that can actually tackle health matters super well.

It was SUPER PEACEFUL!

a section of the media students in Moi University demonstrate

against the repressive media bill.

Well it was a directive reached upon by the media council that all journalists in solidarity demonstrate against the bill.Moi university media students were no exception.

Yeah it sounds odd but if we didnt go out to demonstrate,it would rather be stupid...i mean our careers are at stake here.We wont be able to put to practice what we are being taught if this bill becomes a law.

The most annoying bit are the hefty fines.Ok incase you dont know...that is just put in place to ensure journalists shun away from covering some things.

Wait, did someone remind parliament and the president that we are watchdogs...well we dont back though...anyway what i am trying to say is we pin point the wrong...ensure it is corrected..and congratulate those who do the right.
You mean we dont tend to carry out super awesome investigative stories? If you havent featured yet..just do something outstanding. You wont have to call us...we will look for you.

If laws are supposed to help the country grow economically...the people concerned shouldnt feel jeopardised.

I must say i am glad parliament actually postponed discussing the bill and had the parliamentary committee meet the Grace led team to discuss this. And now they have given the public the task to decide.

Talk of evading responsibility.Anyway i am hoping someone will think critically lest we get back to the regimes where journalists will be jailed for doing the right thing.

I am one myself that's why in that photo i couldnt help but be on the frontline.

My name is Mwanje and Journalism is my tribe.

LET GO

I am strong because I know my weakness.
I am beautiful because I see my flaws.
I am a lover because I have felt hate.
I am fearless because I have been afraid.
I am wise because I have been foolish.
And I can laugh because I have known sadness~ The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it but that it is too low and we reach it.
Rise in the morning with the spirit you had known in your childhood. That spirit of eagerness and adventure and certainty.
At the end of the day when I crawl into bed and all the lights go out, my thoughts can finally rise to the surface.
Yes, I’m a little bruised, slightly broken, and permanently scarred but I’m still here ain’t I? I’m still fighting, I’m still waking up everyday to go through it all over again.
This life may be hard as hell but It’s still a gift and I’m going to live every moment of it~ If you have been holding on to many unnecessary people, let them go.
If you have been clinging on to some old memories for too long, let the past go.

If you have been holding on to a bad partner hoping that they will change some day, let them go.

If you have been haunted and bound by past mistakes, it’s time to let them go.

If you have been holding on to hate, regret or old grudges, let that drama go.

If you have been afraid and stopping yourself from being who you truly are for too long, let all that self-doubt go.

If you have been insecure of your abilities and afraid to take risks for too long, let go of the loser mentality.

It’s time to let it all go and prepare your soul for a new life that is waiting for you.

IT'S FAR FROM OVER

When I thought of this title,i had something else in mind to write about. However my wandering amazing mind thought of something more interesting almost instantly,i bet I should listen to that inner voice.

It tells me I really need to address this.Ok lemie stop keeping ypu waiting...its about break ups!Enhe those that last an hour,a day,a week,a month, years but do turn into make ups.

Yeah....if you fight,go quiet on each for 2weeks then either of you decides to text the other,it's far from over.

If you fight, block their number, two days later you unblock and text them it's far from over.

If you got into another relationship immediately you broke then you keep telling him/her you miss them,it's far from over.

If you ask him/her means of how to leave the one you are coz you are not happy...well need I say?it is far over.

If you admit that you wont mind kissing her when you two are alone somewhere private....well my friend.....it is freaking far from over.

If you ask her/him to tell your parents something you need coz you believe they do it well.............let me remind you it is far from over.

If you get jealous when they choose to move on...ok go stop them..pull a Chad Krouger, cry, hug tightly, kiss,go on your knees say you're sorry take them back coz that will be way far from over.

When you dont tell the concernerd parties that you two are no more,it becomes a private affair...and that shows it's far over.

Okay this is a poem maybe.....i aint sure or I can transform it into a song....after all I am an aspiring singer song writer.
Light shed I bet...even my piece here is far from over coz there's much I can say.

REMEMBER SEPTEMBER

Yeah we have come  to the  end of that one month in Kenya’s history that every grown person will live to recall.
It’s  been given  names I know.Well, for me too….there was my share  of craziness. It’s the month in which studies in my final year of undergraduate reached the pic.Yeah those times you just cant afford to miss a class.Lest a Cat is forth and you act as if you were just dropped from a planet where life does not exist.
It is the month that made me wish the year could just stop so that I get to deal with all the resolutions I set in my little mind when I was engulfed with the joy of new year on that new year’s eve.

It’s the month politicians chose to turn parliament into a love circle, well that should be right I suppose.I bet you can all recall how one Millie Odhiambo,in the middle of an important motion chose to declare her love for one guy she describes as handsome, intelligent and flawless. You probably wondering who that is….its one Aden Duale. The guy is arrogant….the reaction to the issue???but am glad he did give her the benefit of admitting she’s beautiful, and that was just it.

Ok,it aint for Millie only that a cloud of some crazy illusion on love seemed to work.I too had an encounter of some guy,you don’t want to know how we got to know each other.Well after 5days,he was madly, sickly, irrevocably in love with me and was ready to marry me.Did I mention that all that time we hadn’t met?yes we hadn’t…and there he was proposing marriage.I mean my life couldn’t get any worse.

And I am working on my music career, well then I come across this group of people that believe if you want to get a heartache, just date a musician.Come on guys,I am not a heartbreaker in the making!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah it’s that month I was so psyched up for a trip to the coastal town…..thanks to the height of fake promises.I never got to leave school for Pwani. But well life goes on…I got over it and embarked on some serious stuff…like gather  material for my research project.

The other thing I got to learn is we all work to show others how good we are.Nobody wants people to have the idea of they are bad. They might be but none can accept yet…you make mistakes, you know you’re wrong but still you go out of your way trying to show why you’re not.Remember one of the terrosists in the Westgate siege tried to convince a 2yr old boy that he wasn’t a bad man?Well it is all in making it up to the other person. It haunts to know someone thinks you’re bad.Simple, why don’t you just do the right thing once and for all?

You thought im done, well here is another thing that wont go unmentioned, this is the month a fire broke out at the JKIA,the main airport in the country. And that came barely a week after the port had ran out of jet and flights had to be cancelled.Remember that is not some airstrip in BARAGOI???????????????
And just when we were about to forget this weird happenings in the country?the attack on one of the biggest malls in the capital came.Ok was it curse? And as expected..the whole thing has turned into a blame game.Commissions of inquiry have to be set to probe the issue just like it was with JKIA.Anyway may the souls of those who passed on rest in peace.
There’s much I can say about September but well I got to plan how I’ll make October a better one in my life.

For you too,you will hurt,I will hurt,Kenya will but in the end there will be beauty in all our scars.
Remember it hurts when it heals too, smile because if you ask me,il say you deserve to.Someone also tells me the difference between your struggles and opportunity is your attitude, stay positive and you will be surprised how well everything turns out.Ok I got to stop there before I turn into an ” inspirationist”.HAPPY OCTOBER GOOD PEOPLE! Remember you only live once, but if you live it right, that once is always enough.God bless you.

THE TWO THIRDS GENDER PRINCIPLE

Only  48hrs to the long awaited general elections.Kenyans, now more than want to exercise their constitutional right by voting in leaders of their choice. Many Kenyans have pledged to maintain peace whatever the outcome of the elections will be.
The electoral commission has great plans to ensure everything goes well on Monday 4th March. The internal security ministry is also at par in ensuring security is maintained through out the the exercise. The judiciary, through the chief justice has also chosen lawyers and judges who will handle any arising issues concerning the elections. That is a clear indication that Kenya is surely ready.

However, the 2/3 principle shouldn’t  be overlooked.Women organisations everywhere are asking Kenyans to vote in women leaders just to meet this rule.It should also be known that this rule includes the appointive posts too.

Article 177 (1) (b) on countyassembly representation gives the formula to ensure there is no more than 2/3rs of one gender. It says there shall be nominations of members, as special seats based on political party strengths, to ensure this principle is upheld.

It is also upon parliament to ensure this principle is met as per the time stated in the constitution.

VOTE WISELY AND PEACEFULLY.

LIFE'S TRANSITIONS

Many are times we live not knowing thngs will ever take a different turn.Well, thats the cold truth, remember the days you'd fall asleep on the couch and wake up in bed,now you sleep on couch, morning comes and you're stil there. That's change..

Remember the days your teacher would show u how to hold a pencil, then came the pen,you still got instructions. Now they're computers, they instruct too..that's change.

Once upon a time, you related so well with your folks, but at some point, they're the last people on earth you wanna spend time with...there's transition there.

At some point you get to be with people, get so attached and you're tempted to think they're always be there, but for some they walk out of your life,.that's change.

Last but not least,in life, there are times u let situations take their course, but at times,u got to decide your fate..that's change........ I think you can now see it,its we who change all through, and this change makes u..

GO AN EXTRA MILE

Many are times we just sit back and convince ourselves that we can never try out some things.I want to challenge you,it is the Jubilee year,do something different with your awesome self.

I am not saying you go ahead becoming a suicide bomber,no we still need you.Yes,you know, the little things that we all think is a waste of time? That’s what I want you to try.

You went to register as a voter for the first time ever because you have grown, yes you’re above 18.So seeing how the campaign trail is going and you start telling yourself you wont vote,am asking you not to give up,it is you to change Kenya.

You are confided in the house, watching movies or sleeping,I know you do that, well this time, join a church choir, band, music group.Trust me you will find something to do that will excite you.

Alternatively, stay in the house, prepare that one you never think of preparing. Then invite friends over and share as you talk about life.

Another thing, dress code, you’ve never put on Kitenge,or a skirt maybe.Try something different and see the other side of you.

You are the type of youth that doesn’t involve himself/herself with any youth affairs.am asking you to get out of the comfort zone.Attend youth meetings, for intance yesterday 31ST January and today 1st February there’s the National Youth Summit.attend such meetings and know what the youth are up to.

One more thing if you’re a lover of networking..dont just get to facebook..open different sites..check job opportunities in the world, charity organizations and tweet too.Its awesome.no hustle like facebook.
There’s much more you can do but just out this ones.

IT'S NOT THE WHO,IT'S THE WHAT

Ever wondered how you can fall inlove with someone different even after having been inlove with yet another person? You know, you get hurt and you curse on how pathetic love is and u swear not to fall inlove again. But then, you meet someone after some time and they treat you good and soon, you find yourself falling inlove with them. No sooner does it start, than it ends.. You meet someone else, and things happen the same way. It then becomes a cycle. Meet, Like, break. Meet, like, break.

Well, I may be wrong and I stand to be corrected but I think, we do not fall inlove with a person but rather what they do for us n to us. How they make us feel when we are with them.

It explains why we are able to say we are inlove with God yet we have never seen Him. But its coz He treats us well n makes us feel special.

That is why you find a woman falling inlove with a crook, a theif, a murderer and the likes. There are all the reasons why she should not fall inlove with him and she knows the reasons.. But hey, this crook or whoever he is treats her well. when he is with her, he is a nice guy. Treats her well, makes her feel special and important.

And the day this crook will stop treating her well, she will soon fall out of love and fall for the next guy who will make her feel good.

It is not the who,it is the What.

Well, just a thought in my head, thought I should share it.
So if you're there and you feel you are inlove with the wrong person but still dont know how to get yourself out of it, jjst remember: IT'S NOT THE WHO! IT'S THE WHAT.
